Last-minute shoppers didn’t salvage a lackluster holiday sales season, Washington Post reported. High gas prices and rising food costs kept consumers frugal this year. Target, the 2nd-biggest U.S. discounter, said sales at stores open more than a year may decline in December after customer visits slowed in the weeks after Thanksgiving.

I read somewhere that Internet sales we're up 20% this year. When you read the other figures for various items many we're up this year, but not to expectations. We'll excuse me! Not up to expectations? Gee, I guess I just didn't buy enough. I hate the fact that the season is somehow a failure because we didn't grow “enough”. It's all how you look at it. Housing prices down, bad news? How about the fact that housing is becoming more affordable to more people? Don't let the negativity get you down. The good news is there, behind the headlines.
